HOSPITALS
Charles
has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Austin's two largest
hospitals. He has taught yoga and meditation and offered workshops
to employees, patients and visitors at Brackenridge Hospital for
over 10 years.
He also enjoys
the support of Seton Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation program through
which he worked for 2 years, teaching yoga, meditation, and stress
management to cardiac patients.
He has twice
been the keynote speaker at the Seton Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation
Conference. He continues to work with cardiac patients and also
gets referrals from many central Texas doctors, nurses, chiropractors,
physical therapists, and massage therapists.
Charles was
a panelist at the 2nd Annual Southwest Yoga Conference, answering
questions about his work introducing Yoga to patients in a Hospital
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
He was a
featured speaker at the 2001 American Heart Association Women
& Heart Disease Annual Conference and presented on Yoga for
Cardiac Rehabilitation at the 12TH Annual Texas Association of
Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Conference in 2002.
Charles presented
workshops on Meditation for Cardiac Rehabilitation and again on
Breathing for Cardiac patients at the International Conference
on Yoga for Positive Health March 3-7th, 2002.
From 2001
to 2003 Charles worked with Hearts & Minds - a cardiac rehabilitation
clinic with the Austin Heart Hospital - to design and teach the
Yoga and Meditation components of their heart disease reversal
program. He also offered monthly breathing workshops for their
patients and staff.
Charles was
quoted extensively in the December 2002 issue of Yoga Journal
in an article on Yoga for Cardiac Health. He was also a regular
presenter at the National Wellness Conference from 1992-1997.
