Retreat Center
The
yoga facility at Villa Sumaya was custom designed for yoga retreat
groups. It has a thousand square feet of hardwood floors for
yoga, and features a breath taking view of Lake Atitlan and
the volcanos. Sticky mats, blankets, blocks and other props
are provided for those who need them. |

Visitors
can swim and kayak in what Aldous Huxley hailed “the most
beautiful lake in the world. Explore a nearby traditional
Maya village or hike the magnificent lake basin. Alternatively
one may pursue inner rejuvenation in our family room/library,
outdoor hot tub, or sauna. Thai, Reiki and Swedish deep
tissue massage treatments are also available upon request. More
photos of the lake are posted
here.

A
total of eight double occupancy rooms grant visitors a unique
opportunity to bed down in concert under crisp cool cotton comforters
under a Mayan-inspired thatched roof. Each
room, appropriately named using Mayan glyphs, is
carefully appointed, fully equipped with an in suite bathroom/shower
with hot and cold running water, and electricity. In your room
you'll be surrounded by flowing fabrics (the hallmark of Guatemalan
artistry), hand-crafted ceramic tiles, wooden furnishings mixed
and matched in a down-to-earth duo of adobe browns, indigo blues
and stone-washed siennas.

Each
room has a spacious veranda where the lake is a stage. The
veranda showcases the best of Lake Atitlan and Guatemala´s
timeless nature and history. Not shown here are the hamocks
that hang outside each room.
