YOGA & MEETING
SPACES

Most classes are held on
the patio. Straw mats are used to cover the patio, and
then sticky mats and blankets provide a good surface for
hatha yoga practice.
Shown at the left are two
participants from the February 2001 yoga retreat. They
are practicing a challenging partnership trust-balance
pose.

The picture at right shows the dining room. This space is large
enough to comfortably seat 30 people for dinner. When cleared
of chairs it makes a wonderful space to do yoga. Charles usually
brings at least one yoga teacher to assist which allows them to
offer simultanious classes in the dining room and the patio. |
At
the left is shown students from the November 2000 yoga and meditation
retreat, practicing meditation on the beach. |
|
The living room area shown at left, serves
as a favorite hangout where participants gather during free
time to drink April's famous Hibiscus Tea, fresh squeezed lemonade
from the orchard, or coffee.
Guests often can be found curled
up in the pillows reading a book, or munching on fresh made
guacamole and salsa. |
|
The photograph at right shows a yoga class relaxing into a
forward bend. The patio is partially shaded which allows students
to use it through out the day. |
|
Shown at left Charles is showing Lu a
partnership twisting pose.
In the foreground
is Yogi Dog. The February retreat participants brought this
stray back from an excursion to the beach. A collection was
taken up to get him fixed, and assorted minor cuts disinfected.
During the nights this wonderful dog slept outside the door
to the dome keeping watch over the sleeping women. During the
day, he never missed a yoga class, always participating, and
never making a nuisance of himself. It was for his dedication
to yoga that he earned the name Yogi Dog and won the hearts
of the participants.
|
| Karen,
who was instrumental in getting Yogi Dog to the veterinarian
in the first place, amazed those of us who stayed for a few
days after the retreat was over, by convincing the retreat owners
to take on a third dog as a guard dog. Jarrett washed and groomed
Yogi Dog and has now fallen in love with his new pet, who he
has renamed Jodi. Future participants will now have the honor
of meeting this enlightened yoga master, and studying such poses
as upward dog, downward dog, and Shavasana from a true Yoga
Guru.

Discussion groups frequently choose to gather on one of the
grass lawns to enjoy the weather and immerse themselves in the
surrounding beauty of the gardens, and the sounds of calling
birds.
