Schedule - Trip to
the High Mountain Waterfalls
OUR
GUIDE
On the fourth day of the retreat
those participants who want a little more adventure set out
into the Sierra Madre's on a trek to the high mountain waterfalls.
This outing is led by Pam Arthur,
shown at right, relaxing on her patio, overlooking the bay.
Pam is a seasoned guide who knows the surrounding
mountain trails intimately. She has been coming to Yelapa
for 20 years. Since 1957 she has been a Certified Equestrian
Coach, Judge and Course Designer. As much as she loves working
with thorough breds, she is just as enthusiastic about the
small sure-footed horses and mules that she uses for these
outings. She knows each of the animals by name, endurance,
and temperament. She is careful to match up riders to appropriate
mounts.
Participants can choose whether to walk or
ride, and often two people share one horse, taking turns.
Walkers secure their bags to one of the extra mules so they
walk light, and have their hands free.
Pam is knows all about the village, and the
people who live there, and is happy to share her intimate
knowledge about life in Yelapa.

TRAILS
Below,
the February 1999 retreat participants gather, and those riding
horses mount up.
There are a variety of destinations that Pam
takes groups to, depending upon the volume of water in the
river, the state of trails after the rainy season, and the
amount of time a group has.
Most of the trails hug the river and offer
stunning scenery, wild orchids, and an abundance of parrots,
macaws, and butterflies. More
photographs and info.

DESTINATION
Our
destination on these treks are a series of water-falls, rapids,
and swimming holes that lay a couple of hours upriver from our
retreat center.
Participants are encouraged to bring swimming
suits along with pack lunches provided by April. Once at the
high waterfalls, we spend several hours exploring, swimming,
eating, and relaxing, before starting back for home. More
photographs and info.
