Yoga For Kids
Charles does not currently have any yoga classes devoted
to children, but he does allow kids to join in with adult classes, and
has successfully integrated kids as young as seven years old into his
regular classes.
He encourages kids and teenagers to attend at the Cafe'
Dance Studio classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays as this is where
he stores his therapy balls like the ones above and below. During or
after class, Charles works individually with younger students teaching
them balance and building their confidence using these balls. Kids enjoy
playing on the balls, and in the process improve balance, coordination,
flexibility, strength and confidence.
His only requirement is that the kids are not forced to attend by parents,
but are choosing to come to class on there own.
Charles has extensive experience, working with kids
as young as 2 1/2 years old all the way through high school. He has
also worked with program for gifted kids, and with at-risk-teenagers
through a Juvenile Probation program.
Charles also works with other Yoga teachers. At the
2nd Annual Southwest Yoga Conference his program on "Mind/Body
Tools for Teenagers" was attended by over 25 yoga teachers from
as far away as Canada and California.
Charles is passionate about teaching yoga to kids, in
large part because he started yoga when he was 11 and credits this early
start with his later success in athletics and in life. He often works
with athletes at the University of Texas Women's Athletic Program and
is amazed at how many teenage athletes do not know how to breath well,
or how to stretch properly, or how to relax....
Charles also does a lot of work with school districts
in central Texas working with teachers to show them how to use yoga
meditation and breath control for their own stress management, and how
to teach their students to breath, relax and focus. He has also presented
at the Texas PTA conference.
